Beat the January Blues – The Ultimate Guide to London in January

After the Christmas festivities and New Year parties, January often sees us welcome miserable weather and dwindling bank accounts, and we all begin to suffer from the January blues. Many of us make the mistake of thinking that London in January is a bland, boring and cold experience, and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. London is fabulous all year round, and is an exciting metropolis that is constantly buzzing with new events, activities and things to do – even in January! We’ve rounded up the best ways to keep the blues at bay in London in January 2019:

Shop the Soho Vegan Market

Whether you are doing Veganuary, have embraced a plant-based diet for some time, or just trying to cut down on your meat intake, then the Soho Vegan Market is for you. You can browse the streets at Rupert Street Market and chow down on some super tasty animal-free treats. There will be a selection of London’s top vegan street vendors, such as Young Vegans, Spicebox, Lele’s Vegan Patisserie and Jake’s Vegan Steaks. The market is the perfect pit stop during a day out in London in January and is open every Saturday between 11am and 4pm on Rupert Street.

Explore Fashioned by Nature at V&A

The Victoria and Albert Museum is hosting the first UK exhibition to explore the complex relationship between nature and fashion. With fashionable dress and national history specimens ranging back from 1600 to the present day, this unique exhibition invites you to think about the materials of fashion and the sources of your everyday clothes. January is your last chance to visit the exhibition as it closes on Sunday 27th January 2019. Entry costs £12 and highlights include the Calvin Klein Green Carpet Challenge dress worn by Emma Watson at the MET Gala in 2016, an intriguing hat of suede and Himalayan monal pheasant, and a muslin day dress decorated with beetle wing cases.

Sip Scotch this Burns Night

The Scotch Whisky Weekend will be taking place across London between 23rd and 27th January 2019. The mini festival coincides nicely with Burns Night, and gives you the chance to try some special Scotch Whiskies in the best bars the capital has to offer. If you are in London in January, then grab yourself a free digital pass to the festival online here to make the most of the events over the weekend. Each participating bar will serve a totally bespoke Scotch Whisky Weekend cocktail for just £6 each, all you have to do is show your digital pass. You can create your own self-guided cocktail tour across London by visiting as many of the participating bars as you please.

Indulge with a Spa Day
