Things to Do in London with Kids This Summer

The Summer holidays are almost here, and with them comes the struggle of finding an exciting new activity to do with the kids every day. You want to explore options that will keep them entertained and maintain variety across the next few weeks. Family trips during Summer build memories that will be cherished for years to come. Here are our top picks when it comes to lesser known activities that are relaxing and enjoyable, with a foolproof recipe to keep the little ones entertained.

The Harry Potter Tours

If you have children who are most likely to scream with excitement whenever the name ‘Hogwarts’ is mentioned, then this one is an easy option for you. Until October 13th this year, there will be some fantastic tours running across the city. It takes you through filming locations, points of inspiration for the books, and also includes some props and trivia. The group sizes are small and personal, giving the tours a relaxed atmosphere. However, this also means that it is important for you to book in advance. Please note that a short tube journey is required and you will need a travel card.

The Natural History Museum

Museum visits do not have to be boring and The Natural History Museum is an example of that. Let children learn about dinosaurs and the natural history of the world. A popular destination and a highly educational one at that, it is a summer activity that is both mentally stimulating for the kids whilst being interactive and fun. Every year, the museum opens up its butterfly house on the east lawn – and it is returning for 2016. It allows visitors of all ages to come face to face with beautiful tropical butterflies from across the world. The area is filled with sweet smelling fruits and flowers, and there are so many laid out that you have to be careful where you step.

The Theatre

If you are up for laughs and great stories, the theatres in London have a vast selection of plays and performances to entertain children. Some of the fantastic plays include ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’, ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, and ‘Grandad, Me, and Teddy Too’. There is something for kids of every age amidst these theatrical wonders.

Tooting Field Days

Nothing can beat a bit of outdoor fun that is suitable for the whole family. A great way to get the kids involved in some physical activity, it also ensures they get a break from technology and gaming devices during the Summer. A south London safari incorporates scavenger hunts, games, performances, and other activities for everyone to get involved with. If you participate in the September event, you and your child can even decorate your own percussion instrument for the parade!

From exhilarating outdoor experiences, to educational museum and theatre trips, you are sure to find something that appeals to kids of all ages in London this Summer. Use the holiday season to make lasting memories with the family.
