The Mayor’s Thames Festival 2014

Since 1997, the Thames Festival Trust has organised events along the river. Beginning with the famous wire walk on the South Bank, festivities now take place along the River from Westminster to St Katharine Docks. The Lord Mayor will be hosting this spectacular thirty-day free event, which links together London First and the Arts Council of England, so expect some wonderful art, films, performances, music and community festivals along the riverside. Taking you back in time, Handel’s Fireworks Music and Illuminations take place on 14th  September in the stunning Privy Garden at Hampton Court Palace.  Performed by a thirty-piece orchestra,...

The Rembrandt celebrates the World Cup

Football; some love it, some simply like it, others have not much interest at all.  However, with FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 you couldn’t really avoid it. Having 27 different nationalities working at The Rembrandt and several of these being represented in Brazil, we wanted to do something for those who wanted to participate, but at the same time wasn’t too intrusive on those that had no interest! Two days before the first match between Brazil and Croatia in Sao Paulo we asked the question ‘Who do you think is going to be the winner of FIFA World Cup 2014?!!!’...

Teddington River Festival

Teddington River Festival, held this year on Sunday 27th July, is a great community event supporting the Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Station.  Based around Teddington lock and nearby Manor Road Recreation Ground, the festival attracts over 15,000 visitors and offers a variety of activities throughout the day. Remember the fun of your childhood with duck races or experience kiffing with the Skiff Club.  Teddington Sub-Aqua Club will be giving demonstrations of a ‘Roped Diver’ and the RNLI will be displaying their rescue skills.  If a more relaxing experience is preferred then there will be boat rides from lots of different crafts...

The London Bridge Experience

Here at the Rembrandt we do our best to experience all that London promises: a unique mix of designer shopping, multi-cultural dining, royal pageantry and art. But, for those of you who enjoy gruesome history, a visit to the London Bridge Experience and Tombs is just for you. Famed for being the most haunted of London’s bridges, the Tombs are below the vaults of the bridge and were formerly a plague pit.  Add in a bit of technological wizardry, some historically dressed actors and you can experience all the terrors of London’s history.  Experience a battle with Queen Boudicca or...

Wimbledon Championships 2014

Bring on the strawberries and cream, Pimm’s, and, hopefully, sunhats, as we prepare for one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. It is hard to believe that the first meeting back in 1877 was watched by only a handful of spectators when now there are nearly 500,000 attendees and players from sixty nations! Encourage your favourite players and soak in the atmosphere of the Championships through to the ultimate Centre Court battle, where, hopefully, our very own Andy Murray will take his place in the finals once again. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones to...
